Just 9 Games on Getaway Day

Today is getaway day, once again, but there are just three games on the afternoon slate, before we get into six games later tonight.

We saw a pair of Pirates hit a pair of dingers each yesterday, as Pedro Alvarez and Russell Martin both hit two solo shots apiece. That’s four home runs – and just four RBI.

Kinda awesome and kinda painful.

One of the more interesting matchups tonight will be between the Red Sox and Yankees, who start a four-game set. Boston throws out Clay Buchholz, whose 2014 is already worse than his 2013. And the Yankees will counter with the resurrected Michael Pineda.

Also, I wanted to give props to a couple more peeps to our must-follow list, bringing the total to 53 Twitter accounts you should follow for Daily Fantasy Baseball information:

SportsTradex, Getaway DaySI.com – 5 Things to Look For in Your Pitchers

Heyyy, look who joined the party! I take a look at five attributes you should look for in your Daily Fantasy Baseball pitchers. Next week, I’ll tackle hitters.

ESPN.com – Daily Notes

Mike Sheets takes his turn with today’s abbreviated slate before the big weekend. He likes Stephen Strasburg to get his first win of the season against the Marlins. Cliff Lee follows up as his second-favorite pitcher. His starting pitcher rankings also hint that loading up on Blue Jays (vs. LHP Dallas Keuchel of Houston) and Nationals (vs. RHP Tom Koehler of Miami).

RotoExperts.com – Dobish’s Daily Bread

Dobish points out that the Cubs game has a 50 percent chance of showers, so keep that in mind this afternoon. He also likes Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong against Arizona.

” The Diamondbacks have managed just one victory in the past six meetings with the Giants. San Francisco is 7-0 in their past seven home games against a right-handed starter, and 5-1 in their past six games overall. In addition, the Giants are 18-8 in the Vogelsong’s past 26 home starts, and 15-6 in his past 21 starts as a home favorite.” – Dobish
