Seeing Red on a Manic Monday

Here are your top Daily Fantasy Baseball articles of the day! If you know of an article I’ve missed, drop it in the comment section, or tweet it at me @DavidGonos.

LockerRoomFantasySports.com – News & Notes

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of what these guys do on a nightly basis, going through and handpicking some of the best tweets and tidbits from the day’s action. It’s a nice primer for starting the day in baseball.

It’s just crazy to think that Chris Colabello is leading the American League with 11 RBI so far. He’s seeing the ball really well, right now, and he’ll face off against lefty Scott Kazmir this afternoon! Colabello’s already up in the $8,000 range on Draft Day, but he’s $3,900 at Draft Kings, and $2,500 on FanDuel. The salaries have climbed a bit this past week, but he could still be a bargain in the early matchups.

(With that said, he’s a 30-year-old slugger, whose batting average should dip considerably sooner than later. I’m not a huge fan of him in traditional Fantasy play just yet.)

ESPN.com – Daily Notes

Fellow Rays fan (and current Fantasy Baseball Writer of the Year) Jason Collette takes care of the Daily Notes today. He likes Cardinals’ SP Michael Wacha at home against the Reds (Joey Votto’s not having the best start to the season), and then John Lackey against Texas.

Draft Day, Daily Fantasy Baseball SitesInterestingly, he also has Reds SP Tony Cingrani ranked third, so he must expect a low-scoring Cards/Reds affair. Load up on Red Sox against SP Tanner Scheppers, however. He’s also not a fan of Matt Moore pitching at Kansas City.

” Tampa Bay has a history of poor play in Kansas City and Moore is struggling with his command this spring. That’s a bad combination when facing a Royals team that has the third-highest walk rate in the league at 11.2 percent.” – Collette

RotoExperts.com – Daily Fantasy Rundown

One of the top Daily Fantasy Baseball players in the industry, Drew Dinkmeyer, shares some of his favorite picks for today’s games.

Dinkmeyer likes Brian Dozier, who I still believe to be one of the more underrated second baseman in Fantasy, as he lines up against another lefty (Kazmir).

If you’re going to spend some money on your outfielders, both Mike Trout (at Houston) and Carlos Gonzalez (vs. CHW). For value plays, he likes White Sox leadoff hitter Adam Eaton.

FanGraphs.com – Daily Fantasy Strategy for DraftStreet

Brett Talley likes using an Angels stack today against Houston, and a White Sox stack of players at Coors Field.

Hopefully, these articles help you bring back some money today!

2014 Fantasy Opening Day Sale For Sale: $10,000

Welcome to the first day of the Daily Fantasy Baseball season! Playing on Fantasy Opening Day just makes the best day of the year even better. It’s like putting caramel on your buffalo wings!!!

Each day, our mission is to bring you links to the best Daily Fantasy Baseball articles on the web.

These articles might range from good picks for that day’s games, players to avoid, or just some helpful strategy pieces for the different Daily Fantasy sites.

If you write a Daily Fantasy Baseball article that you’d like me to add to this list, tweet @DailyFantasyD, or shoot me an email!

Fantasy Opening Day: Draft Kings (Chris) Sale Prices!

Once in a while, I’ll try to point out some interesting plays on different sites. For instance, White Sox starter Chris Sale, who struck out 226 batters last season, faces a Twins team that struck out 1,430 times last season – second-most in the majors.

There are a ton of aces going on Monday, including Madison Bumgarner, Johnny Cueto, Jose Fernandez, Felix Hernandez, Cliff Lee, Jon Lester, Francisco Liriano, David Price, James Shields, Stephen Strasburg, Justin Verlander and Adam Wainwright.

Most sites have Sale as the fourth-most expensive pitcher for Monday, but Draft Kings has him listed at $10,000, which is the eighth-most expensive salary among pitchers, behind Fernandez, Hernandez, Liriano, Price, Strasburg, Verlander and Wainwright.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Links for Monday, March 31

(These links were posted Sunday night at 11pm. As new articles come in, I plan to update them, so check back Monday morning.)

FantasyInsiders.com – Daily Diamond

Ben Pritchett handles the Daily Diamond cites Rangers SP Tanner Scheppers as his fourth-best pitching option for most Daily Fantasy sites.

“If Scheppers can stay in the strike zone, he should be more than serviceable. Some DFS touts will tell you to always pay for your starter, but Scheppers skills/price make him quite the interesting play.” – Pritchett

RotoGrinders.com – MLB Grind Down

Draft Kings Deposit Bonus-35x22-2Notorious loves Verlander for the Tigers’ opener, and he notes that the Royals were among the bottom of the league against right-handed pitchers last season. He also loves Phillies 2B Chase Utley against Scheppers, after Utley picked up his stats a bit down the stretch in March.

The Grind Down is a deep dive into every single game, and really is one of the best Daily Fantasy Tools around.

ESPN.com – Fantasy Daily Notes

Another one of my favorite tools, the boys at ESPN rank each day’s starting pitchers for Daily play. A new wrinkle they’ve added is a “GS” column, which stands for projected “Game Score” for each pitcher. This uses Bill James’ original formula, which takes in the past three years and the past 21 days.

They have Sale ranked 11th in Game Score, 53, with Jose Fernandez (72) and Sonny Gray (64) leading the position.

“[Fernandez’s] numbers in two starts against the Rockies last year were silly good, as he posted a pitching line of 14 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, 2 BBs, 16 K’s. And don’t forget that the 21-year-old was absolutely filthy at spacious Marlins Park last season, going 9-0 with a 1.19 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 9.9 K/9 and an unbelievable opponents’ slash of .164/.228/.225 in 15 starts.” – Brian Gramling

RotoExperts.com – Dobish’s Daily Bread

Love this breakdown of the Daily Games coming up, as Dobish details the weather and venues. He also likes Billy Butler’s bat against Verlander, mostly because of his BvP stats, plus because he’s cheap on DraftDay.com.

RotoExperts.com – Tony’s Daily Nuggets

Tony Cincotta is a Fantasy veteran, and he makes some picks for StarFantasyLeague’s scoring system. He likes Jhonny Peralta despite a mediocre spring, and Scheppers, once again, because he’s also listed as a relief pitcher on their site.

Don’t forget to check the DailyMLBLineups.com page before games start to make sure your players are playing!

Good luck! I hope we find you a winner on the day after Fantasy Opening Day!
