Just-Naked-Links Hump Day

Just-Naked-Links Hump Day

Some day games already happened, and some night games are close to getting going – and I’m late posting this! You’re getting naked links today, without any discussion about who the writers are picking because of other writing priorities. This might happen once in a while, but hopefully, not too often.

First, I’d like to mention that my Tout Wars Mixed league team already has more issues than my team the entire 2013 season – when I came in second place … by exactly half a point.

Matt Moore (elbow) having Tommy John surgery and Jurickson Profar’s shoulder injury has me behind the black ball. I’m in the middle of the pack (sixth) right now, but that’s about to drop like a rock.

In Daily Fantasy play, I’m struggling, too. Last season, I started off with a 19-3 Rapid Fire record, but I’ve already lost five games this season with just one or two wins.

Down is up! Up is down!

Celebrate Jackie Robinson Day With Daily Fantasy Baseball!

Celebrate Jackie Robinson Day With Daily Fantasy Baseball!

Full slate of 15 games on schedule for tonight – let’s see if our favorite Daily Fantasy Baseball writers can help us pick some winners.

Some think of today as Tax Day, while others know it as Jackie Robinson Day – a day to celebrate the day he made his major-league debut, breaking the color barrier in professional sports.

(Interesting side note: Go watch Ken Burns’ “Baseball” again and you’d find that there were actually black ballplayers in the majors in the late 1800s. They were eventually banned, and Robinson ended up being the first black player in modern baseball.)

There are three games with more than a 50-percent chance of rain, however, so keep an eye on the TB at BAL game, along wiith CHC at NYY and ATL at PHI.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for Jackie Robinson Day

Here are the top Daily Fantasy Baseball articles for Tuesday! If I missed any articles, let me know by leaving a comment or tweeting me @DavidGonos.

RotoExperts.com – Dobish’s Daily Bread

It looks like Andrew Brown is about to inherit a job, with a couple of the Mets’ other outfielders going down with injury Monday. He also likes Conor Gillaspie, who is really starting to grow into his full-time third base job with the White Sox.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qk5shbiy_Go

RotoExperts.com – All In Kid’s Daily Bets

Jake Ciely likes what Chase Headley’s doing over his past five games – and thinks he has a good sixth game in him tonight!

ESPN.com – Daily Notes

Brian Gramling once again returns to rank ALL 30 PITCHERS tonight! I love this page, and I love the notes Gramling writes at the bottom.

FantasyInsiders.com – Daily Diamond Hitters

Derek Carty comes back for another round of his favorite picks for the day. Stephen Strasburg is the top ace of the day, but he also has Brandon Morrow at Minnesota.

“Sure, there have been some breakouts and surprises like Chris Colabello, Josmil Pinto, and Brian Dozier, but when you consider that Colabello is on the way down (as should have been expected) and that their offense (third in the AL in runs scored thus far) has also largely been driven by overperformances from Jason Kubel and Trevor Plouffe (solid players but not this good), you see that this is really a below-average offense. I don’t foresee Morrow having much trouble with it.” — @DerekCarty

FoxSports.com – Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Adam Meyer really likes the Angels today against the A’s, since four starters are hitting over .400 against Dan Straily.

TheFakeBaseball.com – Top 5 Fantasy Hitters

Draft Kings Deposit Bonus-35x22-2Richard Valero is back on it with his picks – including Edwin Encarnacion against the Twins’ Phil Hughes tonight.

“The bat for EE hasn’t been great this year but he does have 5 hits in his last 3 games as well as a very favorable matchup today. Also right handed hitters are hitting .412 against Hughes this season. Get him in the lineup for sure today.” — Valero

TheFakeBaseball.com – Draft Kings

Zach Trexler picks his favorite players/prices on Draft Kings, including a catcher, second baseman and three outfielders (Spoiler alert: Shin-Soo Choo vs. Seattle)!

TheFakeBaseball.com – FanDuel Picks

Jason Guilbault looks at the top FanDuel options for the evening. Eeeeeverybody’s loving on Garrett Richards tonight, especially with his $5,700 FanDuel price.

So here’s the thing – I had a mid-afternoon mild emergency that involved dog poop for a dog I was dogsitting. Soooo today’s picks aren’t as in-depth as I had hoped they would be.

Stocking Up on Money, By Stacking Up on Mariners

Stocking Up on Money, By Stacking Up on Mariners

How’d you do this weekend? Bring home any wins? I’m going to say — you saw enough success to make you want to come back and hit some more games for Monday night.

There are nine games tonight, all starting after 7pm — so I had some extra time to dig into some great Daily Fantasy Baseball articles!

Our new record — 17 links to 17 great articles. It’s quite a benchmark to aim for every day!

(By the way, games start late tomorrow also! I’m going to try and break the record again!)

Monday’s Daily Fantasy Baseball Links

Here are the top Daily Fantasy Baseball articles for Monday! If I missed any articles, let me know by leaving a comment or tweeting me @DavidGonos.

FantasyInsiders.com – Daily Diamond Hitters

Derek Carty picks a couple players at each position, matches them up with their salaries on four sites, and shares his favorite value plays. He likes a big stack of Rays, going up against lefty Wei-Yin Chen in Baltimore.

“Longoria has the biggest platoon split among our Rays options today—a team whose contextual factors create the most favorable matchup of the day—making Longoria a near must-play.” – Carty

FantasyInsiders.com – Daily Diamond Pitchers

Dave Loughran does the same picks/value plays on different sites as Carty, but for pitchers. His second-favorite pitcher play this afternoon is Braves SP Ervin Santana, who goes up at the Phillies.

ESPN.com – Daily Notes

Jason Collette is back and he shares his pitcher rankings for Monday’s games. Interestingly, he likes Arizona’s Josh Collmenter at home against the Mets over any of the other matchups. He also likes Reds ace Homer Bailey against the Pirates, however.

RotoGrinders.com – MLB Grind Down

Notorious goes through every game to pick out some winners. He’s a big fan of Robinson Cano, who is still looking for his first home run of the season, as he faces Rangers RHP Colby Lewis – fresh from a Triple-A rehab stint.

“In 2012 Lewis gave up a .771 OPS to LH batters and Cano is my top 2B play of the day. I really think the Mariners will knock Lewis around a bit and Cano hits RH pitching almost as well as anyone. Cano against a weak RH pitcher in a hitter friendly park? Yes please!” – Notorious

RotoGrinders.com – Daily Batter Breakdown

Varncass suggests jumping on the Devin Mesoraco bandwagon, now that he’s heating up, and I’m right there with him. This guy was bound for a breakout season at the plate, and it’s starting to happen. Get him now while he’s still cheap. He’s at a hitter’s park against a left-handed pitcher, so tonight’s a good night to jump on.

Draft Street, Daily Fantasy Baseball TournamentsRotoGrinders.com – MLB Daily Plays

Louiescards picks a pair at each position, including Troy Tulowitzki, who he suggests paying good money for Monday night at San Diego.

RotoScouting.com – Daily Fantasy Baseball Diamonds

Mike Newman likes Domonic Brown and Ryan Howard going up against “home run prone Ervin Santana” and the Braves.

RotoExperts.com – Dobish’s Daily Bread

Dobish notes that Albert Pujols has hit safely in nine consecutive games, and he has three home runs and six RBI in his past five games. He’s starting to outplay his bloated Daily Fantasy salary on most sites.

He also likes Justin Smoak for Seattle, citing a jetstream to right field at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

RotoExperts.com – Daily Fantasy Rundown

Leonem and Dinkpiece also like Cano to “get hot in Texas,” and they share a couple catcher picks before you have to pay for their premium package. It’s a nice system, since you get to see if they do well on a few picks before paying up for the rest.

RotoExperts.com – All In Kid’s Daily Bets

Jake Ciely shares his favorite plays of the day, which includes one of the hottest outfielders in the game – Justin Upton. Did you know Upton is now tied with Hank Aaron for the Braves’ franchise record for most home runs in consecutive Aprils? … And Upton has 15 games left!

FoxSports.com – Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Adam Meyer continues his column on Daily Fantasy Baseball, and he concurs with Ciely, choosing the younger Upton as his “Must-Start of the Day.” Upton goes up against Robert Hernandez in Atlanta.

TheFakeBaseball.com – Top 5 Fantasy Hitters

Richard Valero shares his favorite plays of the day, including Joey Votto, who’s going up against Wandy Rodriguez. Votto has seven extra-base hits against Wan-Rod in 54 career at-bats.

TheFakeBaseball.com – Streaming Pitchers

Justin Klein loves Rays P Chris Archer against Baltimore, but he’s also a fan of Santana and Zack Wheeler, who faces Arizona.

“Sooner or later this kid will put it together this season. After two rough starts Wheeler is a bit of a sketchy play Monday at Arizona, and that is why he’s still available in 26% of Yahoo leagues. The ERA & WHIP are going to come down, and the 12/2 K/BB ratio is a great sign. The fact that Arizona is stumbling helps as well. I’m pitching Zach on Monday and recommending you do the same.” – Klein

FanGraphs.com – Roto Riteup For Draft Kings

Zach Sanders goes over his “Daily Five” of players he likes with today’s matchups and their Draft Kings salaries. While Collette likes Collmenter against the Mets, Sanders thinks 3B David Wright still has an excellent matchup – especially with the cheap price tag ($4,400).

FanGraphs.com – The Daily Grind for FanDuel

Brad Johnson jumps on the stack-up-your-Rays-vs-Orioles bandwagon, but he also thinks the Marlins against Jordan Zimmermann could be a nice payoff.

“The Marlins jumped on him last time. Aside from the terrible outing and poor control, I can’t find any indicators of injury.” – Johnson

FanGraphs.com – Daily Fantasy Strategy for DraftStreet

Brett Talley shares a couple charts that show players with reverse splits (good against the same-handedness pitcher) and the reverse splits for switch hitters. He suggest starting some of these guys when they’re facing like-handed pitchers, since DraftStreet’s salaries for them will dip for those matchups.

Let us know how you end up doing after tonight’s games.

Sunday Prayers for Big GPP Tournament Wins?

Sunday Prayers for Big GPP Tournament Wins?

Most games will be over by the time the sun sets tonight, so you’ll want to get your lineups in there for GPP tournaments by 12:30pm ET, then adjust accordingly as the day rolls on.

Some pitchers still looking for their first win include: Tony Cingrani, Edwin Jackson, Ubaldo Jimenez and Matt Moore.

Also, something to keep in mind on Sundays is that many times, a catcher will get a day off, allowing his backup to get the day start after a night game. This is a great way to move in some cheap backup catchers into your lineup.

Sunday’s Daily Fantasy Baseball Links

Unfortunately, today I went golfing with my brother and nephews. Every year, we do a weekend dedicated to my father on Masters weekend, down at my brother’s place in Lake Okeechobee. This is the 7th Annual Don Gonos Memorial Masters Weekend Extravaganza! We get together and do all the things my dad loved – golfing, drinking, fishing, playing poker, watching golf, drinking, eating, arguing, saying regretful things, drinking, apologizing, gambling and drinking.

So today’s links aren’t directly to the columns, but rather, to the website that hosts them. So really, you’re just two clicks away from fantastic Daily Fantasy Baseball content. Leave a comment or tweet me @DavidGonos, if I missed any articles.

Saturday Morning Cartoons: Going Gaga Over Gallardo

Saturday Morning Cartoons: Going Gaga Over Gallardo

Remember back when you used to get up early on Saturday mornings, just so you could watch cartoons four like four straight hours? Today is similar, only except for getting up early for cartoons, you have to get up early to set your Daily Fantasy Baseball lineup for six afternoon games!

If you sleep in, however, you’ll still be able to play a game using the eight nighttime contests, which happens to be led by Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo, who has had a great start to the season.

Gallardo is now 2-0 in his first two starts of the season, and he has yet to allow an earned run in 2014. He faces off against the Pirates, who are struggling a bit to start the season.

The Bucs are batting just .234 on the young season, and Gallardo has just two walks and seven strikeouts after two starts. He’s an intriguing choice on a day when aces like Adam Wainwright, Jered Weaver, Sonny Gray, Justin Verlander, Zack Greinke and James Shields take the mound.

30 Teams, 15 MLB Games, Dozens of Daily Fantasy Baseball Tournaments

30 Teams, 15 MLB Games, Dozens of Daily Fantasy Baseball Tournaments

Is there anything more awesome than a full slate of 15 games on a Friday night? You know, I mean, besides partying with a bunch of hot chicks that find baseball knowledge sexy.

Why is it so great, having 30 teams going at it within a six-hour window? Think about it this way – this is the first time all season we’ve been able to choose from lineups on all 30 teams for Daily Fantasy Baseball tournaments.

This means we’re going to have cheap players blow up and affect thousands of lineups, and we’ll have super expensive players that many avoided because there are so many other options.

Life is good!

Scoreboard watching will never be the same!

So in celebration of this, I thought I’d invite you to play in several tournaments I’m going to play in tonight. These won’t be expensive tournaments, but they will be awesome!

Friday’s Daily Fantasy Baseball Links

Draft Street, Daily Fantasy Baseball TournamentsHere are the top articles for Friday with the best Daily Fantasy Baseball information out there! Did I miss any? Drop it in the comment section, or tweet me @DavidGonos.

TheFakeBaseball.com – Streaming Pitchers

Neil Parker (@naparker77) does his best to help us win all of those tournaments above, with a pair of pitchers he expects to do well, in spite of their ownership percentages.

TheFakeBaseball.com – Top 5 Hitters

Among Richard Valero’s top-five hitters, he has two catchers, two third basemen and two outfielders. (One player is eligible at two spots!

LockerRoomFantasySports.com – 3 Daily Fantasy Pitcher Picks

Parker also makes some picks over at LRFS, specifically for Draft Street’s setup, which allows for three pitchers. Angels rookie starter Tyler Skaggs gets the nod here.

“Skaggs has long been a highly regarded pitching prospect, who is finally getting his chance for the Angels. The Mets head to LA among the leagues worst for drawing a free-pass and have struck out 88 times in just 9 total games. Skaggs will look to build off his excellent first start of the season and the price is right here.” – Parker

ESPN.com – Daily Notes

Once again, we’re looking at a day full of aces, with pitchers like Yu Darvish, Felix Hernandez, Chris Sale and Jose Fernandez toeing the rubber tonight. This might be a good day to pair an ace with a bargain pick in hopes of bringing home some tournament dough.

FanGraphs.com – Roto Riteup

David Wiers chooses five players he likes in Draft Kings’ setup for tonight. One of those players is Tigers OF Rajai Davis ($3,600), who plays at San Diego.

” Yes, I’m going against my boy in Andrew Cashner here, but I think the Tigers will be aggressive on the base paths while in Petco. Hard to imagine someone other than Davis enjoying the green light more.” — Wiers

Happy Friday! Win some money — as a second-place finisher, of course.
